FAQs

What is the difference between VR/AR/MR?

  • Virtual Reality: totally immerses the viewer in a virtual world utilizing a standalone headset system, such as the Oculus Rift SHTC Vive Pro or Varjo headsets. Virtual Reality systems can be stationary or employ Room Scale technology, which allows users to mirror their physical movements in the real world, with how they move in a virtual environment.

  • Augmented Reality: overlays digital information on top of physical objects or environments, so users can “see” both at the same time in the context of each other. AR experiences are typically activated by passing over or scanning an image with a handheld device, (iPhone or other tablet) via digital eyewear and can include text, graphics, video, animation, and sound.

  • Mixed Reality: Similar to AR mixed reality blends the physical and digital worlds into a programmed experience that lets users visualize and interact with digital information like 3D overlays and real-time data. The difference from AR is that digital objects are not just superimposed onto a mixed reality environment, they’re integrated into it, leading to more user interactivity.
